Rather than açaí, these are more aptly named smoothie bowls because if you don't have açaí on hand it shouldn't prevent you from making a deliciously dense smoothie, enjoyed with a spoon. These bowls are hormone-balancing (maca), stress-reducing (ashwagandha), rich in antioxidants (berries), and full of cardio protective omega 3's, cholesterol lowering soluble fiber, + cancer fighting lignans from chia + flax seeds. The key to the thick and creamy consistency is chia seeds + frozen banana. Allowing the chia to sit in almond milk for a few minutes before you add the rest of the ingredients lets the chia start to gel so you have a great smoothie bowl base.

● 2 tablespoons chia seeds

● 1 tablespoon flax seeds

● 1 cup almond milk

● 1 tablespoon maca

● 1 tablespoon ashwagandha

● 1 frozen banana

● 1 cup frozen mixed berries

● 1/2 cup frozen mango

● 1/2 cup spinach

Place chia + flax in blender container with almond milk and let soak for 3-5 minutes (you can add maca + ashwagandha at this point too). Add the rest of ingredients + 4 ice cubes and blend, adding a bit of water as necessary to blend, I used just under 1/4 cup. Top with anything you like, some ideas . . berries, bananas, sliced almonds, walnuts, shredded coconut, almond butter, cacao nibs.
